September 4, 2011 - Founding member of Etowah County Rescue Squad, George W. Lowery, passed away this morning.  Visitation will be tomorrow evening at Village Chapel Funeral Home in Alabama City and the funeral will be on Tuesday.  Times are still pending and we will post further information as soon as it becomes available.  We keep Mr. Lowery's family and rescue squad family in our prayers.

July 5, 2011 - It is with sadness I post the passing of John Thomas Gilbreath, son of Byron Gilbreath of Crossville Rescue Squad on July 4, 2011. Visitation will be at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home Wednesday July 6 from 5-8pm. Graveside service will be Thursday July 7 at 11am at Carter Cemetary.

June 23, 2011 - It is with sadness that I post the passing of Fred Cash, long time member of Collinsville Rescue Squad. Visitation will be this evening (6/23/11) from 5-8p at Collinsville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be tomorrow (6/24/11) at 2pm at Collinsville Funeral Home.

June 4, 2011 - It is with a sad and heavy heart that I post the passing of Charles Tigue from Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad. Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Sunday 6-5-2011 from 4-9pm at Section Funeral Home in Section, AL. Funeral will be Monday 6-6-11 at 11am. Section Funeral Home is located at 230 Hodge Road, Section, AL 35771.

May 25, 2011 - Services for Myrtle Warren, Johnny Warren's Mother, will be held on Thursday May 26 at 2pm. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1p - 2pm. Visitation and services will be at Hill Crest Baptist Church located at 5117 Post Oak Rd in Anniston.

February 15, 2011 - Just received a call the AARS has lost another long time member Mr Cecil Hancock from Union Rescue Squad has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and also his squad family. Visitation for Cecil Hancock will be Wednesday night February 16th from 5:30 to 9:00 at Albertville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday February 17th at 2:00 PM

January 30, 2011 - Just a note from me, Gwen, the editor.  If you get the mailed version of the magazine, it will might not get to you in time this quarter.  In the past the delays have been post office related and again, to some extent, that is the case here.  Moving a postal permit from one post office to the other takes a lot longer than expected.  I am also still working out the kinks and timing in printing it and mailing it myself. Anyway, if you know of anyone who does not have access to the internet, please pass along the conference information to them.

October 22, 2010 - It is with sad news that I pass along the passing of one of our own.  Mr Joe Stone, Captain Coosa Valley Rescue Squad this morning.  Mr. Joe A lifetime member of the Alabama Association of Rescue Squads put a hard fight up but has gone on to be with our Lord and Savior.

Mr G.B. Casey, one of the founders of the AARS and member of the Etowah County Rescue Squad, passed away earlier today. The arrangements are as follows. Viewing will be at the Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden on Rainbow Dr September 11th from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Services will be at the Chapel on Saturday September 12th at 11:00 AM. There will be no graveside service.
